Traffic Signal Project
Hedge Avenue @ State Route 16

This project proposes a number of improvements at the Hedge Avenue and State Route 16 intersection and will provide a number of roadway system benefits including:

• Improved roadway safety.
• Increased accessibility for persons with disabilities.
• Improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
• Americans with Disability Act compliance.

This project will include:

• Install a new traffic signal with a right turn lane at the southwest corner onto Hedge Avenue.
• Install a right turn lane at the southeast corner onto State Route 16 (Jackson Road).
• Installation of traffic signal poles and detector loops.
• Installation of a controller cabinet and electrical conduit.
• Placement of pedestrian pushbuttons.
• Minor pavement widening.
• Placement of slurry seal and striping.

Tentative Schedule

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $750,000 and will be provided by a 2005/2006 Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) grant (44%) and through local funding from the Sacramento County Measure A Sales Tax (6%) and Caltrans funds (50%).
