Intelligent Transportation System Project
Hazel Avenue (Folsom Boulevard to the Placer County Line)

Project Description

This project will expand the County’s existing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) program to Hazel Avenue while adding a key component to the regions ITS development. Transportation system benefits will include:  

• Improved roadway safety.
• Improved traffic management.
• Faster emergency vehicle response time.

Planned ITS improvements include:

• Real time surveillance cameras to monitor traffic conditions at intersections.
• Changeable message signs.
• A signal priority system at various intersections for fire engines and Regional transit buses.

Funding

The estimated total project cost is $805,000 and will be provided by Measure A Sales Tax funds (50%) and TEA-21 funds (50%).
