Traffic Signal Project
Excelsior Road at State Route 16 (Jackson Road)

Project Description

This project will install a traffic signal at the intersection of Excelsior Road at State Route 16 (Jackson Road). The State Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will administer the project through a cooperative agreement with Sacramento County. Roadway system benefits will include:  

  • Improved roadway safety.
  • Increased accessibility for persons with disabilities.
  • Improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
  • Americans with Disability Act compliance.

This project will include:

  • Widening with re-striping to accommodate separate turn lanes with multi-purpose lanes.
  • Installation of traffic signal poles and detector loops.
  • Installation of a controller cabinet and electrical conduit.
  • Placement of pedestrian pushbuttons.
  • Placement of new striping.

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $7.3 million, and will be provided by Developer Fees (Roadway District 4 funds-14%) and other State funding (86%).
