This South Watt Avenue (State Route 16 to Kiefer) improvement project will provide a number of roadway system benefits including:
- Improved roadway safety.
- Increased traffic capacity to ease congestion and delays.
- Improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
- Meet Americans with Disability Act requirements.
- Beautification of the project area.
Planned roadway improvements include:
- Widening South Watt Avenue from 2 to 5 lanes between State Route 16 and Kiefer Boulevard. This includes left turn lanes between Alderson Avenue and State Route 16 in the Rosemont area.
- Construction of a 12-foot wide, raised landscaped median along South Watt Avenue.
- Roadway improvements for ADA compliance, transit access and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
- Construction of new soundwalls, as specified in the Environmental Document.
- This project will also install a new traffic signal at South Watt Avenue @ Canberra Drive and provide for signal modifications at Jackson Road @ South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard @ South Watt Avenue.

Estimated total project costs are $5.6 million and will be provided by Measure A sales tax funds (15%) and Developer Fees: Roadway District 4 (85%).
