Gerber Road (Elk Grove – Florin to Gerber Creek Crossing # 3)

Project Description

This project will provide a number of roadway system benefits including:

• Improved roadway safety.
• Easing congestion and delays.
• Improving bicycle, pedestrian and transit facilities.
• Meeting Americans with Disability Act requirements.
• Beautification of the project area.

Planned roadway improvements include:

• Widening Gerber Road from 2 to 3 lanes with a raised landscaped median between Elk Grove – Florin Road and Gerber Creek Crossing # 3 in the Vineyard Area. This work includes reconstruction of two traffic lanes and adding a new west bound lane.
• Roadway improvements for ADA compliance, transit access and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
• Construction of a new traffic signal at Gerber Road/Diamond Ranch Drive.
• Box/bridge culvert improvement at Gerber Creek Crossing # 4.

Preliminary Engineering, 2005 to 2007
Design, 2005 to 2007
Environmental Review, 2005 to 2007
Right-of-Way Acquisition, 2006 to 2008
Construction, 2007 to 2009

Funding

Estimated total cost is $11.6 million. The construction of this project is being handled by the Freeport Regional Water Authority as part of their water transmission pipeline project. Project costs will be reimbursed by the North Vineyard Station Specific Plan Fee Account after completion of the work.
