Elverta Road -Watt Avenue to Dutch Haven Boulevard

Project Description

This Elverta Road (Watt Avenue to Dutch Haven Boulevard) improvement project will provide a number of roadway system benefits including:

  • Improved roadway safety.
  • Increased traffic capacity to ease congestion and delays.
  • Improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
  • Meet Americans with Disability Act requirements.
  • Beautification of the project area.

Planned roadway improvements include:

  • Widening Elverta Road from 2 to 4 lanes between Dutch Haven Boulevard and Watt Avenue.
  • Construction of a 12-foot wide, raised landscaped median along Elverta Road.
  • Roadway improvements for ADA compliance, transit access and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
  • Removal of the existing two-lane Elverta Road Bridge at Dry Creek and construction of a new 6-lane reinforced concrete bridge which will accommodate bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

Tentative Schedule

Preliminary Study, 2003 to 2007
Environmental Study, 2004 to 2009
Design, 2004 to 2010
Right-of-Way Acquisition, 2005 to 2011
Construction, 2011 to 2012

Funding

Estimated total project costs are $11.2 million. Project costs will be provided by a combination of Measure A sales tax funds, Transportation Equity Act-21 funds, Antelope Public Facilities Financing Plan Capital Improvement Program, and Federal and State roadway improvement funds.
