Freedom Park Drive and North Watt Avenue Complete Street Project

Project Description

This project proposes installation of sidewalks, bike lanes and streetscape improvements – such as decorative street lamps and landscaping - along Freedom Park Drive. The project will also include small public pedestrian plazas at the following locations: 1) Watt Avenue between Karl Drive and Don Julio Boulevard, and 2) Freedom Park Drive between Watt Avenue and 32nd Street. The pedestrian plazas will include wide sidewalks, decorative bus facilities (to improve transit use), kiosks, benches and an artistic Freedom Park Corridor identity monument.  

Tentative Schedule

  • Preliminary Study 2005 to 2008
  • Environmental Study, 2006 to 2008
  • Design, 2006 to 2008    
  • Right Of Way Acquisition, 2007 to 2008
  • Construction, 2008 to 2010

Funding

The estimated total cost of the project is $4.6 million and will be provided by State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and the Sacramento Housing Redevelopment Agency (SHRA).
