Countywide Sidewalk Continuity Project

Project Description

This project will construct sidewalks to fill in gaps at 14 locations in accordance with the Sidewalk Construction Project Priority List. These include locations where pedestrian volumes and adjacent vehicle volumes are relatively high, and where it is unlikely that property development or redevelopment will occur in the near future. Benefits of this sidewalk continuity project include:

  • Improving pedestrian safety.
  • Providing continuous sidewalk facilities.
  • Improve appearance and uniformity of the street infrastructure.
  • Improve accessibility for disabled pedestrians.

Tentative Schedule

Preliminary Study, 2003 to 2006
Design, Phase 2B: 2003 to 2007, Phase 3A: 2008 to 2009, Phase 3: 2003 to 2009
Environmental Review, 2003 to 2009
Right of Way, Phase 2B: 2007 to 2008, Phase 3A: 2009, Phase 3: 2009 to 2010
Construction, Phase 2B: 2008 to 2009, Phase 3A: 2009, Phase 3: 2010

Funding

The estimated construction cost for Phase 2B is $1.7 million, Phase 3A is $415,000, and Phase 3 is $1.6 million. These projects will be funded by the Measure A Sales Tax and the Sacramento Housing Redevelopment Agency's Federal Community Development Block Grant will provide funding for Phase 2B.
