ADA and Pedestrian Projects




 

Disabled Access Intersection Improvements

Project Description

This project will upgrade five signalized intersections to provide safe and usable pedestrian facilities and to comply with the Sacramento County Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan. Intersection improvement related work for this project will include:

  • Pedestrian signals (including audible messages).
  • Sidewalk reconstruction.
  • Sidewalk ramps.
  • Crosswalk markings.
  • Other work necessary to comply with ADA standards.

Five intersections will be improved as part of this project.

  • El Camino Avenue @ Yorktown Avenue
  • Fair Oak Boulevard @ Sunrise Boulevard
  • Madison Avenue @ Hackberry Lane
  • Madison Avenue @ Manzanita Avenue
  • San Juan Avenue @ Sunset Avenue

These locations are based on citizen requests and recommendations of the Physical Access Subcommittee of the Sacramento County Disability Advisory Committee.

Tentative Schedule

It is anticipated that this project will be completed by January 2007.

Funding

The cost for this project is $1.2 million, and will be provided by Measure A Sales Tax funds.
